Songbird for Doctors Without Borders

It's February and a new kit is up at the Songbird Avenue. We are glad to present to you "Port au Prince", a digital scrapbooking kit for the benefit of relief in Haiti. All proceeds this month of February will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. This kit is lovingly created by 56 of our talented past sponsors, The Queen of Quirk, Meredith Fenwick, Janet Phillips and Amy Wolff. This kit is huge with 104 papers, 208 elements, 6 templates and 8 alphas. Awesome!!! ...and you're paying only with the same amount as the previous kits. How awesome is that?! *wink* Here are the preview of the kit.

And here are my layouts using Songbird Avenue Port au Prince kit.
"Papa-Mama" (my parents)

"BFF" (my sister and her bffs)

"Doods" (my brother)

"My Father's Little Girl" (me and my papa)

Today, MSF provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need. MSF reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols.

In 1999, MSF received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dare

Just got a break from designing, so I participated on a dare at Digi Dares. This week's sponsor is Amanda of Taylor Made Designs. I'm really late since it will be ending today January 21 at 10pm EST. But better late than never. I have read of Amanda's dare early on but I just kept on forgetting about it until today. Amanda's dare is about "Change" and here's my page.

"Change"

Journaling:
I have accepted fear as a part of life - specifically the fear of change... I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says: turn back...~Erica Jong~

This is what I resolved to do now. I have been living in fear almost all my life. The fear of failing, being misjudged, facing other people and being away from my comfort zone (my house).I want to change for a better me... wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and co-worker. And especially not to be afraid nor get discourage by the changes that will happen in my life. Instead, embrace it gladly and hold on to God’s promises.

My First Pen Scrapper Entry

Just joined Pen Scrappers scrap contest. Got curious while I was voting for the layout of a scrapper friend Diane. So I visited their site and read what is it all about. Hehehe... What got me to join were the grand prize... WOW! I hope I win or Diane... but if not it's okay but I will be sad. There will always be the next time. :)... I still hope I win.

Please visit Pen Scrappers and do vote for me... just click here or just click the 'vote for me' thumbnail above (...and for Diane here). I'd like you to vote for her, too. I won't be able to know about this if she hasn't posted it on her blog and Facebook. Hehehe...

Thank you very much!!!

Some other news...
Regarding my First Blog Surprise, thank you for commenting. Thank you for my friends for commenting, it just means you're really my friends. Hahaha... And for the others who commented, thank you very much. Your comments are so inspiring and flattering. Hihihi... Although the comments did not reach 20 (as for my target), it's still okay with me. There are those who commented that didn't give their email adds and I don't know how to send you my Free Spirit Add-on Feehand Drawn Frames. :) I'm even planning for another blog surprise and this time it will be much better. Hehehe...

Thank you very much... Thank you for looking. Keep on visiting here. I am planning something for my December freebies but I'm still a bit unorganized as to how to go about it. LOL! Hahaha... I'm hoping to resolve this soon.

Stay happy pipol... Hakuna Matata...

Upon returning to the blogging and scrapping world, I found out that I won (get picked by Mr. Random) another scrap challenge by Jaime Choi, Change Challenge. I won her Change full paper pack filled with 14 gorgeous fall-inspired papers. Wow... nice... :)

Now, I still hope that I get picked again at Three Paper Peonies' Harvest Challenge to win a kit of my choice (paper packs only). Come and join the scrapping fun, it's until midnight on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 (PST).

Embrace Imperfection challenge

This won't take long. I just dropped by to post my challenge layout. Two of my favorite scrappers had a collaboration kit just recently, Feifei Stuff and Paiselee Press, and they are hosting a challenge both on their separate blogs and at the same time at the Oscraps.

The challenge is to scrap a blurry photo using mostly Paislee Press, Fei-fei's stuff designs or a combination of both. You have until Thursday, Sept. 24th (PST) to submit your layout.

Here's my entry and as always I am praying, crossing fingers and toes that I'd win. :)

I took this photo while "My Boys" are having fun together. It just made me a sad because it turned out a bit blurry. But what a heck, it's still a saved memory. :)

Journal:
friends... like family. ohana means no one is left behind.

Among the many friends we have here in UAE (specially here in Al Ain), these guys are the closest to us. From the first time me and Makuy arrived here, they are the ones we always hang out with, share insights, heartaches, problems, funny-happy moments, and the lists just go on and on. They are our family here and as a ohana, "no one will be left behind". We may someday walk through different directions but deep inside they will be forever cherished and hopefully stay connected. Thank you to them for the love and support they gave us in times we needed it the most. I love you guys... (chuva) *wink*

I always visit Jaime Choi's blog and I admire her layouts as well as her itty bitty kits (her designs). She's one of my inspirations when it comes to digiscrapbooking. I hope and pray that I would also be able to create my own kits... but I still have to learn so many things. In creating my layouts, I usually get my inspiration through the layouts of other digiscrappers. I saw this circular date stamp and I kinda liked it but it was for sale and since I don't have the means to buy them, I usually create my own from scratch. I was already able to create 4 circular stamps and I'd like to share them with you (specially for those who only rely on freebies like myself). Hehehe... Hope you'll enjoy using them.

Download here

As for these alpha, I created them to be sticker alphas since I couldn't find the alpha that I liked to add on my layout. I used Friends font which I got from the net. You can download them if you like.

Download here

Enjoy the challenge and thank you for downloading my freebies.

Thank you for passing by... :)

Challenge layout

Three Paper Peonies had another challenge, a layout that sums up your summer. It will be over this August 27, so head on to her blog, grab and enjoy her freebie, School, leave some love for her… and participate in the challenge. Believe me it will be fun.

Here’s my layout. It’s about my eldest son’s summer. Here in UAE, its still summer. Although the wind’s starting to get cold, it’s still super hot here. Summer vacation for the school here started last June and school will soon open after Ramadan, September.

I scrapped about my son’s summer happenings and drawing is taking most of his summer time, other than playing and watching cartoons.
